Albuquerque | The Dreamweaver

I was on vacation in Los Angeles with my girlfriend when my cousin Michael gave me a watch with blue gemstones.

We were going to play baseball but I forgot my mitt at the hotel so we had to drive back there.

On the way, we decided to stop at In-N-Out Burger where I ordered a secret vegetarian burger.

After lunch we drove through downtown L.A. and my girlfriend said she was afraid of being in such a big city.

I told my cousin that I would rent a car and take her back to the hotel.

As we were driving back into the Valley, I suddenly remembered I didn't have a driving license.

Later that evening, we were driving around and came to a train crossing. While waiting for the train to pass, we noticed what a beautiful starlit night it was and thought we could see the Milky Way.

Once we got back on the freeway, there was a lot of traffic, so I left my girlfriend on the shoulder of the freeway and told her to walk to the nearest rest stop where she could wait for me and get something to eat.

After I navigated my way through the traffic jam, I picked up my girlfriend up at the rest stop.

We drove off and she confessed to having stolen a few pair of jeans from the store at the rest stop by layering them on top of her shoulder bag saying she’d done it before and would never get caught.

Furious and disappointed, I told her we were going straight back to the the shop to return the stolen jeans but she pleaded with me not to take her back there and to get off the highway at the first exit we came to.

She told me if I respected her wishes, she would marry me despite our age difference and buy us a house with her inheritance money.

I agreed and we drove all night until we reached Albuquerque, New Mexico.

I pulled into a gas station to fill up the gas tank.

I sat there for a moment looking at my girlfriend asleep in the passenger seat and realized I was the luckiest man in the world.

Then I woke up.
