End of the World (Fragment) |The Dreamweaver

Writer's picture: The DreamweaverThe Dreamweaver

We were notified of the imminent end of the world and my mother picked me up and we drove to my grandparents house on Maplewood where it was decided the family would gather to spend the final moments of civilization.

We pulled up on the empty street and just as we were about to get out of the car, a white sedan pulled up in front of us that was driven by the annoying woman who lived downstairs with her elderly sisters in the back seat.

We went into the building and I opened the mailbox to find a envelope addressed to me and my wife. I was surprised to see the return address was from my cousin Tracey in California.

We went upstairs and I was greeted by my first dog, Sherlock, who was overwhelmed with joy seeing me for the first time in years. He jumped up and gave me a long hug.

I had the envelope in my pocket and was going to give it to my wife to open, but thinking it might contain cash, I decided to open it myself.

I carefully ran my finger under the flap and slowly opened the envelope.

Then I woke up.
